LK68, a surprisingly recent variant of the human coronavirus, has generated considerable interest within the research community. At first observed in late 2023, this novel lineage presents a complicated genetic makeup, containing mutations that possibly influence transmissibility and severity of disease. Further research is urgently demanded to tho
